Position Purpose: The Brand Manager will collaborate closely with the Marketing Director to formulate brand and portfolio strategies aimed at increasing market share and brand equity for JTI brands in Nigeria. The role involves leveraging market and consumer data to develop brand portfolio and pricing strategies within the legal framework. Responsibilities include overseeing New Product Development (NPD), brand equity stewardship, and activation within the JTI portfolio, as well as acting as a communication custodian for existing and new brand launches.

Main Areas of Responsibilities:

Portfolio & Brand Management:

  • Understand consumer needs and market dynamics to develop a relevant portfolio.
  • Support the Marketing Director in developing portfolio and marketing strategies.
  • Manage the development of JTI brand plans, covering key strategies, objectives, and launch execution.

Brand Custodianship:

  • Ensure adherence to global and local brand guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain brand guidelines and communication platforms for specific brands.
  • Equip Marketing & Sales teams with a clear understanding of brand guidelines.

Pricing Strategy:

  • Actively support the definition of pricing strategies.
  • Identify price challenges, recommend pricing scenarios, and forecast portfolio volume.

Consumer Engagement:

  • Develop elements of the marketing mix to strengthen brand equity.
  • Create local creative materials within brand guidelines and regulatory frameworks.
  • Define metrics for evaluating consumer program effectiveness.

Performance Measurement & Planning:

  • Analyze JTI brands’ performance to identify short- and long-term issues/opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, consumer wants, and competitor activities.
  • Contribute to monthly forecasting processes by providing input on consumer behavior.

Minimum Requirements:

  • University Degree in Marketing, Communication, or Business is advantageous.
  • 8-10 years of experience in FMCG Brand/Trade Marketing functions.
  • 4-5 years as a Manager and 2 years as a Senior Manager.
  • Hands-on experience in brand portfolio strategy and product development.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and analyzing consumer/trade trends and competitive intelligence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
