We are currently seeking qualified individuals for the following position:

Job Title: Legal Officer

Responsibilities:

Legal:

  • Provide analytical support on legal and policy matters.
  • Coordinate the drafting and updating of operational processes, procedures, and guides.
  • Review contracts, legal documents, and internal policies for compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Manage charged off loans and non-performing assets.
  • Offer legal counsel for the recovery of outstanding debts from defaulting customers.
  • Conduct research on various legal issues.
  • Monitor and report on newly published laws, acts, and regulations affecting the institution’s business.
  • Perfect legal documentation.
  • Recommend improvements to operating policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed on government legislations and CBN policies, providing opinions and advice.
  • Provide support on Law Enforcement matters as needed.
  • Develop comprehensive reports for legal proceedings.

Compliance:

  • Create awareness on regulatory provisions, circulars, directives, and legislations affecting the bank’s operations and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the HR department to conduct periodic training for staff on regulatory compliance.
  • Follow up on approved recommendations from regulatory bodies such as CBN and NDIC.
  • Ensure full compliance with monthly reporting to regulatory bodies (CBN, NDIC, EFCC, Credit bureaux).
  • Prepare evaluation reports on compliance for management on a monthly basis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum of three (3) years post-call experience in a reputable organization.
